January 13 (Sunday) If you love country dancing—Texas Two-Step, Waltz, East and West Coast Swing, Cha Cha, nightclub two-step and even
a little hustle, there’s no better place to be in New England than the
Longfellow Athletic Club every Sunday night. From 6:30 - 7:30 you can
take your pick of a Texas 2-Step lesson or Hustle lesson (free
with admission to the dance). The dance goes from 7:30- 11 PM ($10).

January 17 (Thursday) Most Thursday nights there’s a great “Practice
session/Dance” at Let’s Dance Studio in Concord (near the corner of
Pleasant and Main. This is a traditional ballroom mix and best of all
it’s free, though there is a contribution jar on the water cooler
suggesting a donation of $3. This is a very friendly, low-key group and
usually about 30 dancers of various levels show up. It starts promptly
at 8 PM and ends promptly at 10 PM. 5 N Main St., Concord, NH 03301,
(603) 228-3804; Letsdance. They have the same “Practice session/Dance” format on Friday nights, but so far attendance on those nights is fairly light.
January 18 (Friday) Ken Mercik hosts a weekly dance at the Polish
Home
in Windsor Locks, CT. There is generally a lesson before the dance from
8 - 9 PM and he frequently has guest instructors. The Dance goes from 9
- 12 Midnight. ($10). For directions and to check on the latest info go

January 18 (Friday) Acoustic Truffle plays rock at Salt Hill from 9 - 12:30 PM. Small dance floor, but great atmoshpere
and usually plenty of dancers. On the mall in downtown Lebanon. I have not heard this band, so I can't vouch for them.
January 19
(Saturday) Monthly USA Ballroom Dance (Usually 3rd Saturday except
December, but I suggest you always doublecheck their website before
making the drive.) Elley-Long Music Center, 223 Ethan Allen Avenue,
Colchester, VT 05446, 7 - 11 PM with brief lesson at the start. $12. www.dancevermont.org Drive time is about one and a half hours from Lebanon.
January 19 (Saturday) One of my favorite local bands, The Squids are playing at Salt Hill. Small dance floor, but great atmoshpere
and usually plenty of dancers. On the mall in downtown Lebanon. I have not heard this band, so I can't vouch for them.
January 19 (Saturday) Most Saturday nights you can find salsa dancing
at Gusanoz Restaurant on the Miracle Mile, Lebanon. Call ahead to be
sure. No cover. All ages welcome.

Coast Swing workshop with Faye, free intro to swing lesson before the
dance, this band plays a wide variety of music so come out and dance!
6 PM: West Coast Swing workshop with Faye Grearson, "Dancing the
Blues", int/exp level dancers, $10; 7:30: Intro to swing dance with
Faye, free with dance 8-midnight: Dance to band, DJ during break, $10
in advance, $15 at the door. Advance tickets through Kris or Faye.
